An established specialist contractor based in Leeds is looking to appoint a Design Manager with a solid background in general build projects and a technical focus on external works, particularly façades, curtain walling, and cladding systems.\n\nThe company is recognised for delivering complex and high-quality external envelope packages across a wide range of sectors, including commercial, education, residential, industrial, and public sector developments. Known for their technical excellence and collaborative approach, they work both as a principal contractor and as a specialist subcontractor on large-scale projects across the UK.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nManage and coordinate the pre-construction and construction phase design process\n\nTake ownership of façade, cladding, and curtain walling packages from concept through to delivery\n\nLead external works design management across multiple project types\n\nLiaise directly with clients, project managers, and consultants to drive efficient and compliant design solutions\n\nCoordinate with the specialist supply chain (fire engineers, thermal consultants, structural teams, etc.)\n\nEnsure compliance with current building regulations, performance standards, and safety legislation\n\nContribute to the preparation of BSR Gateway 2 documentation, including methodology, scope, and competence statements\n\nRequirements:\n\nPrevious experience as a Design Manager or Design Coordinator in the construction industry\n\nStrong technical knowledge of external envelope systems, including façades, curtain walling, and cladding\n\nBroad experience across a range of build projects - exposure to multiple sectors is highly desirable\n\nAble to lead pre-construction design programmes, including temporary works, structural calcs, U-values, and Principal Designer duties\n\nConfident communicator, able to manage key stakeholder relationships and drive design coordination forward\n\nFamiliarity with Building Safety Regulator (BSR) Gateway 2 processes is essential\n\nThis is an excellent opportunity to join a technically driven, fast-growing contractor that offers a dynamic and supportive environment for experienced design professionals
