At the IB we are revolutionizing the way assessments are delivered worldwide. We’re embarking on an ambitious digital transformation that will reshape the entire assessment experience—from student preparation and registration to results and beyond. We’re looking for a Digital Assessment Operations Senior Manager to play a pivotal role in this exciting journey. This is a key leadership position within our Digital Assessment Initiative (DAI), part of the Assessment and Operations Office. You’ll lead the Digital Assessment Operations workstream, driving innovation and operational excellence while ensuring seamless collaboration across multiple teams and stakeholders. Responsibilities Key Responsibilities
Adapt, retire, or integrate existing assessment systems with digital solutions to ensure a complete end-to-end process from student preparation to results. Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for digital assessment systems to ensure accurate data flow and marking solutions. Develop expert knowledge of systems, policies, and processes impacted by the programme; identify and implement necessary changes to support smooth transition to Business as Usual. Plan and deliver stakeholder communications, staff training, and operational support for implementation. Support planning and execution of Business Continuity Plans (BCP), contingency, and rollback strategies. Ensure project plans and resources are aligned with delivery managers and the Digital Office, using agreed tools and processes for visibility and reporting. Post-implementation, collaborate with assessment leadership to provide early-life support and drive future digital efficiencies. Ensure business readiness criteria are defined and met before go-live. Understand all aspects of assessment transformation, including access and inclusion, operational requirements, scalability, and resilience. Advocate for best practice standards in user experience, data, and technical compliance (e.g., WCAG, EAA, 1EdTech). Contribute to developing the Digital Target Operating Model with assessment leadership and business change teams.
Qualifications About You
Bachelor’s degree with significant experience in assessment operations, educational measurement, or education. Proven track record in leading organizational change and continuous improvement. Strong business acumen with expertise in budgeting, resource allocation, and risk management. Advanced knowledge of assessment operations, digital assessment systems, and emerging educational technologies. Experience in system change management and User Acceptance Testing (UAT). Skilled in developing and implementing SOPs for digital and paper-based assessments. Ability to solve complex project challenges and stay current with assessment trends.
