Workshop Engineer

Reporting to the Reliability & Obsolescence Manager, the Workshop Engineer will be responsible for the testing, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of Rail Communication equipment. This role requires strong analytical skills, hands-on experience with electronic diagnostic tools, and the ability to work independently to troubleshoot and resolve hardware issues.
This is role requires someone to be in our workshop in Canning Town (London) 5 days per week.
Perform component-level troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair of electronic devices and circuit boards.
Use oscilloscopes, multi-meters, soldering equipment, and other diagnostic tools to evaluate and repair hardware.
Collaborate with engineering teams to provide feedback on recurring issues or product design improvements.
Assist in inventory management of parts and tools required for repair activities.
Assist product testing and quality control efforts as needed.
You will have previous experience working on component level repairs, as well as soldering and testing of equipment.
A recognised engineering qualification - NVQ Level 3 and above or related field (or equivalent work experience).
Proven experience in component level troubleshooting and repair of electronic systems.
Strong soldering and desoldering skills (including SMT and through-hole components).
