Role Description

This is a hands-on, operational role sitting at the intersection of project implementation, assessments, data, vendors and internal teams. It requires someone who is comfortable working with learning platforms and tools, processes and people, and who enjoys making complex systems work reliably at scale.

The role will play a key part in supporting ICS’s transition to online examinations and in strengthening the operational backbone of its digital learning ecosystem.


Purpose of the role

To contribute to the digital transformation of the Institute’s education services through effective project coordination, instructional design, and learning systems development. This role supports the successful implementation of the Online Exams Platform and the ongoing modernisation and growth of the Online Academy (LMS), working across education, examinations and external partners.


Reports to: Head of Education & Training

Collaborates with: Examinations Manager, Education Coordinator, External Vendors, Internal Committees


Key Responsibilities

1. Digital Learning & LMS Development

  • Design and update online courses and learning journeys using modern instructional design principles.
  • Manage course configurations, enrolments and reporting in the LMS.
  • Collaborate with subject tutors to improve learning materials, assessments and learners' experience.
  • Support the Head of Education & Training with education projects.


2. Project Management

  • Serve as day-to-day coordinator for the Online Exams Platform project, ensuring timelines, testing and stakeholder engagement.
  • Liaise with vendors, the Examinations Manager and internal committees to ensure successful project implementation.
  • Maintain project documentation, risk registers and progress reports.
  • Coordinate with the Examinations Manager to ensure communication and meetings with the internal committees.


3. Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Partner with the Examinations Manager to streamline digital exam workflows.
  • Provide data insights (reports, learner metrics) to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Contribute to digital innovation and new product development within ICS education.


Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven project management experience with global learning programmes and platform migrations.
  • Familiar with digital Certifications and Diplomas on a global scale.
  • 2-3 years of experience with Learning Management Systems (Moodle, Totara, Absorb, etc.) and e-learning.
  • 2-3 years of Instructional Design experience and content design tools (Articulate, Rise, Adobe Create tools, etc.)
  • Excellent attention to detail, communication and stakeholder management.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Interest in maritime education or professional training preferred.
  • Experience with Membership Organisations is an advantage.
