Role: Digital Product Manager

Contract Length: 10 months

Location: South West England (Exeter – 3 days per week onsite)

IR35 Status: Inside IR35

Day Rate: £563.42 (Umbrella)

The Opportunity

Client is modernising the technology foundations that power critical data-driven services across government, science, and industry.

They are seeking an experienced Digital Product Manager to help shape and improve internal platforms used by developers, engineers, and operational teams. These platforms include developer tooling, APIs, data pipelines, and infrastructure services.

The focus of the role is to improve usability, reliability, and adoption—enabling teams to deliver faster, safer, and more efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support development of business cases for service enhancements and third-party supplier engagements
  • Own and manage product roadmap and backlog for shared technology platforms
  • Work closely with engineers, architects, and delivery teams to deliver incremental improvements
  • Translate internal user needs (developers, operations, etc.) into clear product priorities
  • Define and track measurable outcomes (e.g. adoption, usability, performance)
  • Balance short-term delivery with long-term sustainability and compliance
  • Facilitate collaboration across technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Promote product-led, user-focused, iterative ways of working in a legacy environment

Key Requirements

  • Strong experience managing developer platforms and cloud technologies (e.g. AWS, Azure)
  • Experience managing commercial services and third-party suppliers
  • Solid understanding of Agile and Lean methodologies in engineering environments
  • Experience with user-centred product development (including internal users such as engineers)
  • Ability to prioritise effectively using outcome-driven approaches
  • Strong stakeholder management across technical and senior audiences
  • Experience working in complex or legacy environments
  • Excellent communication and decision-making skills
