Founded in 2009 after a nearly 30 year grassroots community coalition campaign, PhillyCAM is a community media center that provides transformative opportunities for people and communities to express themselves, to learn from each other, and to produce and share media reflective of the experiences of everyday people. We envision an equitable society in which media reflects and represents our communities, builds community power, and enables all people to access media tools to critically analyze media and participate in media creation.PhillyCAM is the nonprofit designated by the City of Philadelphia to operate its public access television network (Xfinity 66/966HD/967 and Verizon Fios 29/30). PhillyCAM also operates alow-power community radio station, WPPM-FM. We offer over 60 unique workshops and trainings annually to hundreds of participants including topics such as field production, TV studio production, digital video editing, virtual production, collaborative filmmaking, cinematic storytelling, community news reporting, audio production, podcasting, live streaming and DIY filmmaking on the go.About the positionPhillyCAM seeks a person who is passionate about the importance of community media production and moving resources to communities most often marginalized in the field of media arts. The Director of Development and Partnerships will be someone with proven success in fundraising from individuals, foundations and government agencies. Since relationship building is fundamental to all fundraising efforts, the ideal candidate will also be a people person who enjoys connecting with a wide range of people throughout our city at forums, screenings and other events. The person should also be a systems thinker and familiar with managing a database and collecting quantitative data organization-wide to strengthen the stories of PhillyCAM’s impact. This is a new position at the organization and has guaranteed funding for at least two years.This position will report directly to the Executive Director and work collaboratively with program and administrative staff.Develop and execute an annual fundraising plan to meet the organization’s revenue goals in collaboration with the executive director including individual giving campaigns, special events, government grants and corporate and foundation support.Collaborate with communications staff on the creation of fundraising print and digital materialsLead and act as the primary liaison for the board of director development committeePartnershipsAct as an ambassador of PhillyCAM at community, government and foundation eventsSeek out opportunities to showcase PhillyCAM’s work and help extend PhillyCAM’s networks of individual, organizational and institutional supporters as well and the ongoing maintenance of those relationshipsOperationsBuild the operations infrastructure and systems needed to sustain and grow PhillyCAM’s $2 million budget annually through individual gifts, government grants, and corporate and foundation support.Manage PhillyCAM’s donor database, generate reports, and lead any regular maintenance and clean up efforts for accurate, up to date recordsManage digital storage and organization of documents related to fundraising and reportingCollaborate with staff to build systems for programmatic data collectionCandidate requirementsCommunity-minded people person who loves to build connections and be out in the community at a variety of eventsFamiliarity with the local foundation and government fundersFamiliarity with parts of the Philadelphia eco-system of community organizationsMission alignment and an understanding of the complexities of creating a community space and upholding first amendment rights to free speech while also not creating harmDemonstrable success in grant writing and individual donor recruitment, stewardship and retentionExcellent writing skills and the ability to synthesize quantitative data and other reporting into compelling stories of PhillyCAM’s impactSystems thinker with experience managing a database and utilizing project management software to collaborate with staff on successful fundraising endeavorsAbility to “manage up” and work with executive director collaboratively to reach goalsCuriosity and openness to experimenting, learning and adjusting as well as the ability to productively give and receive feedback.Other desired characteristicsExperience in producing fundraising eventsExperience with different online giving platformsFamiliarity with NeonCRM, Airtable, BasecampTerms of EmploymentFulltime: 40 hours per week, may work more hours around events and deadlines, including some evenings and weekends.Location: This position is currently a hybrid position with three days/week in person in our building in Center City Philadelphia.
