Job Description

Director of Engineering – Corporate Banking

End-to-End Software Development Lifecycle, Technology Delivery, Web Platform Development, Vendor Management, Global Resource Management,

A global banking organisation is seeking a Director of Engineering to join their Corporate Banking division to manage a function distribution across the UK, US and Asia and lead the delivery of business-critical client-facing platforms.

You must come from a hands-on software engineering background and whilst at this level, they are agnostic, the development teams are primarily coding with Java, Python and JavaScript for web-based services hosted on a hybrid public/private cloud setup.

You will also demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the full engineering stack, covering physical, compute, networks/infrastructure (including security), through to application build and deployment.

Having progressed into engineering/technology leadership, you will have experience of delivering large technology programmes (multi-million-pound initiatives for critical platforms), overseeing functions through the end-to-end SDLC, driving modern development best practises and tangible business value.

This role will oversee a function of approx. 150 resources, responsible for an always-on/highly available web platform that is essential for external client dealing. You will lead this function through a complete re-engineering of this platform, for both modernisation and geographic expansion purposes.

You will have full autonomy over the engineering function and are encouraged to implement your own target operating model, identifying and fixing gaps in the current structure to form a fully effective delivery outfit. Major delivery considerations will be lead time, software quality, speed to market and forward planning about topics such as AI adoption.
