Reporting into the Commercial Finance Director, this role plays a key part in leading financial planning, forecasting, and performance management across a high-volume, margin-sensitive insurance business. You will work closely with the CFO, Executive team, and wider Finance function to shape pricing, portfolio, and investment decisions through clear, commercially focused insight. The role also carries responsibility for building and developing a high-performing FP&A function, enhancing processes, models, and tools to enable faster and more effective decision-making.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the annual budgeting process, rolling forecasts, and multi-year financial planning cycles.Develop robust financial plans incorporating key business drivers such as volumes, retention, rate movements, inflation, claims trends, and commission structures.Monitor and explain financial performance, including underwriting result, loss ratio, expense ratio, and combined ratio.Evaluate trade-offs between growth, retention, and profitability to support long-term value creation objectives.Deliver clear, forward-looking insight and analysis to Executive leadership and Board stakeholders.Establish and lead the business performance cadence across weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting cycles.Partner closely with senior stakeholders to provide actionable, data-driven recommendations.Ensure the accuracy and consistency of financial and operational KPIs used in forecasting and performance reporting.Drive enhancements to FP&A models, dashboards, and automation to improve reporting efficiency and insight generation.Lead scenario analysis and financial modelling to support strategic decision-making.Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing FP&A team with strong commercial and analytical capability.Foster a culture of accountability, insight, and continuous improvement within the finance function.Collaborate with wider finance and capital teams to ensure consistency across reporting and decision-making frameworks.Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and governance standards in financial planning and reporting.Core Skills and ExperienceProfessionally qualified accountant or equivalent (ACA, ACCA, CPA, CFA, or similar).Extensive experience in FP&A or financial leadership roles within an insurer (ideally retail)Strong understanding of insurance economics, value drivers, and margin management.Advanced financial modelling and scenario analysis capability.Proven experience influencing senior executives and delivering Board-level reporting.Demonstrated track record of enhancing FP&A processes, tools, and performance dashboards.Experience building and leading high-performing FP&A teams.Ability to translate complex data into clear, commercially actionable insights.Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple strategic priorities effectively. #J-18808-Ljbffr
