Overview
We are seeking an exceptional Interim Director of Housing Standards, Assets & Investment to join a leading London local authority at a critical time of transformation and service improvement.
This is a high-impact leadership role where you will drive strategic change, enhance housing standards, and lead the delivery of a modern, resident-focused housing service across a large and complex portfolio.
The Role
As Interim Director, you will provide strategic leadership across housing asset management, investment, and compliance, ensuring services are safe, efficient, and aligned with regulatory requirements.
You will act as a catalyst for change—embedding a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and resident-centric service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the strategic management of a housing portfolio of circa 20,000+ homes
* Oversee asset management, capital investment, major works, and repairs programmes
* Ensure full compliance with building safety, regulatory and H&S requirements
* Drive service transformation and improvement programmes across housing services
* Lead on procurement, contract management, and value for money delivery
* Develop and implement strategies for sustainability and net-zero carbon targets
* Champion digital transformation across housing operations
* Embed data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement practices
* Build and maintain strong partnerships across the Council and external stakeholders
* Act as a senior advisor to executive leadership and elected members

About You
* Proven experience operating at Director level within housing or local government
* Strong track record in asset management, capital programmes, and regulatory compliance
* Deep understanding of building safety legislation and housing standards
* Experience leading large-scale transformation and improvement programmes
* Commercially astute with expertise in procurement and contract management
* Inspirational leader with the ability to build high-performing teams
* Strong stakeholder management skills across political and executive environments
