First Choice Homes Oldham (FCHO) is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Disrepair Paralegal to join our dynamic Legal Services Team.

In this key support role, you’ll help manage a varied caseload of disrepair claims brought against FCHO, supporting legal processes and contributing to timely, fair and cost-effective outcomes. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their legal career or looking to develop their experience in housing law.

What will you be doing?

Working under the supervision of our Solicitor and Senior Disrepair Paralegal, you’ll:

• Support in managing a range of disrepair and housing litigation claims
• Assist with tasks such as disclosure review, document drafting, collating evidence, and liaising with colleagues and external parties
• Prepare legal bundles, case summaries and instructions to counsel
• Attend meetings and case conferences, supporting with notes and follow-up
• Use legal case management systems to maintain accurate records and track deadlines
• Work collaboratively with teams across the organisation to gather information and support the resolution of claims
• Ensure all work is delivered to high professional and ethical standards
• Provide general legal and administrative support to the Legal Services Team
• Proactively contribute to service improvements and a culture of legal excellence

What do you need?

Essential:

• Law degree or conversion course
• Basic understanding of disrepair and housing law
• Excellent client care and communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• Confident with Microsoft Office and digital case management
• Ability to manage time and priorities effectively
• A team player who is eager to learn and grow within the legal field

Desirable:

• Experience supporting or handling property law or housing-related cases
• Advocacy experience
• Understanding of social housing compliance, tenant engagement, or risk management
