We are currently recruiting on behalf of a leading engineering and manufacturing organisation for a Document Controller to support high-integrity project delivery within a regulated environment.
⚠️ Please note: Due to the nature of the work, only candidates who currently hold valid SC (Security Check) clearance can be considered. Unfortunately, we are unable to sponsor or wait for clearance to be obtained.
The Role
This is a key role within a fast-paced, project-focused environment. As a Document Controller, you will be responsible for managing, controlling, and distributing critical documentation—ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance throughout all stages of the project lifecycle.
You will be the central point of contact for document control activities across multiple engineering projects and must be comfortable enforcing structured procedures and liaising with multiple stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the documentation gatekeeper—ensuring correct formatting, version control, and consistent use of standards
Maintain structured electronic and physical filing systems, document registers, and configuration procedures
Coordinate the distribution of internal and external correspondence in a timely and accurate manner
Set up and maintain project-specific folder structures and document registers
Administer internal project tools (e.g. trackers, spreadsheets, logs)
Identify non-conformances in documentation and issue corrective actions when necessary
Organise tender documents, client submissions, and ensure traceability of critical project files
Communicate document control procedures to teams and support continuous improvement of systems and processes
Candidate Profile
Essential Skills & Experience
Must hold active SC clearance – essential to access secure project environments
Previous experience in a document control or project support role
Familiarity with document management systems and quality standards
Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
Confident working across multiple projects simultaneously
Strong communication skills and the ability to enforce process adherence
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
Desirable
Experience within engineering, nuclear, defence, or similarly regulated sectors
Understanding of auditing or project workflow management processes
