Drainage Engineer - London & South East
Location: Field-based Hours: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm + overtime Salary: Competitive (DOE) + overtime + call‑out payments
A well‑established drainage company is seeking a positive, multi-skilled Drainage Engineer to join their small, supportive team covering London and the Southeast. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys problem‑solving, and wants ongoing opportunities for overtime and skills development.
About the Role
The successful candidate will carry out a range of drainage and plumbing-related tasks, including reactive works, surveys, repairs, and planned maintenance. The role includes:
Standard hours: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm Weekend and evening work where required Participation in a 24-hour call-out rota (current team experiences infrequent callouts; some staff volunteer for extra) Overtime available for approved hours over 40 per weekKey Responsibilities
Drainage unblocking, fault-finding and repairs Operating high-pressure water jetting equipment Using electro-mechanical equipment and Picote systems Performing CCTV drainage surveys (OS19/OS20 desirable) and using Wincan software Drain lining and patch repairs Carrying out excavation repairs when required Conducting site visits, preparing quotes and estimations Adhering to Health & Safety requirements Basic plumbing tasksSkills & Experience (Desired but Not All Essential)
Multi-skilled in drainage and basic plumbing High-pressure jetting experience Experience with electro-mechanical equipment and Picote OS19/OS20 CCTV qualifications and Wincan competence Drain lining/patching experience Ability to carry out excavation works Strong Health & Safety awareness Certifications such as Confined Space, CITB, CSCS, PASMA, Working at Height, JettingEssential Requirements
A positive, "can-do" attitude Flexible approach to working hours Strong written and verbal communication skills Attention to detail and pride in workmanship Lateral thinker with proactive problem-solving abilities Full, clean UK driving licence (ideally 5 years) for insurance purposes Willing to complete a DBS check Computer literate (Excel, Word, Outlook) Team player who works well under pressureBenefits
