Drainage Engineer
We are currently recruiting on behalf of a local authority in the Home Counties for an experienced Drainage Engineer to join their Highways and Infrastructure team on a contract basis.
The role focuses on the design, maintenance, and improvement of public drainage systems, with the aim of managing stormwater, reducing flood risk, and supporting sustainable infrastructure delivery. Flexible and hybrid working arrangements are available.
Key Responsibilities:
·Design and assess drainage systems across highways and public spaces.
·Oversee the maintenance and repair of drainage infrastructure, including sewers and surface water systems.
·Support flood risk management through the implementation of SuDS and related measures.
·Manage or contribute to drainage-related infrastructure projects from planning through to delivery.
·Provide technical advice on drainage and flood risk for planning applications and policy development.
·Assist in emergency responses related to flooding or drainage failures.
Requirements:
·Proven experience in drainage engineering, ideally within a local authority or highways context.
·Strong understanding of flood risk management and sustainable drainage principles.
·Ability to manage projects and coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders.
