Position: Early Career Teacher (Secondary – Religious Education)
Salary: £37,868 – £39,851 per year
Salary will be determined in line with the Outer London Main Pay Scale and aligned to the Early Career Teacher (ECT) pay range (M1–M2). The role is suitable for ECTs, with salary awarded at M1.
About the Role
Are you an enthusiastic Early Career Teacher (ECT) ready to spark curiosity and meaningful discussion in Religious Education? We’re recruiting on behalf of an Outstanding all-through school in Redbridge where pupils achieve excellent outcomes and the school culture champions respect, diversity, and ethical understanding.
The school was rated Outstanding by Ofsted, with a full inspection in November 2023 confirming it remains at the highest grade. It is a large, all-through school (including primary and secondary) with a sixth form, known for its high expectations, strong leadership, and commitment to providing an exceptional education for every pupil.
This is a full-time, permanent role starting 03/09/2026, ideal for an ECT looking to begin their career in a highly supportive, well-structured environment with excellent mentoring and professional development.
Key Responsibilities
• Plan and deliver engaging RE lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, building knowledge, analytical thinking, and cultural awareness.
• Support GCSE Religious Studies learners to achieve highly through clear modelling, structured questioning, and targeted feedback.
• Contribute to curriculum planning, assessments, and the continued development of a thoughtful, inclusive RE programme.
• Enrich the wider school experience through extra-curricular opportunities (e.g., debate clubs, interfaith discussions, ethics forums, themed days or trips).
• Be an active part of a high-expectations, inclusive community, supporting positive behaviour for learning.
Requirements
To be eligible for this role and the stated rate of pay, applicants must have:
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) (ECTs warmly encouraged to apply)
• A degree in Religious Studies or a related humanities discipline
• Strong subject knowledge and the ability to teach KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable)
• The ability to commit to a permanent post starting 03/09/2026
