About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Early Career Teacher (ECT) of Science to join a supportive and forward-thinking secondary school in Portsmouth from September 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity to begin your teaching career within a structured and well-supported environment. You will teach Science across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, with the possibility to specialise in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics at Key Stage 4 depending on your subject strength.
As an ECT, you will benefit from a comprehensive induction programme, including a reduced timetable, dedicated mentoring, and regular CPD sessions designed to help you develop your teaching practice and confidence in the classroom.
About the School
This is a medium-to-large mixed secondary school with approximately 1,(Apply online only)–1,300 students aged 11–16, serving a diverse coastal community in Portsmouth. The school has a strong focus on academic progress, inclusion, and student wellbeing.

Ideal Candidate
Holds (or is working towards) Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
A degree in a Science-related subject
Strong subject knowledge across KS3 and KS4 Science
Passionate about inspiring young people in Science
Willingness to learn, develop, and engage with the ECT programme
Strong communication and organisational skills
