Assessment EHC Officer / EHC Coordinator
Location: Medway (Hybrid Working) Contract: Permanent Salary: £31,283 per annum
We are seeking dedicated and experienced Education, Health and Care (EHC) professionals to join a SEND and Inclusion Service on a permanent basis. We are recruiting for both Assessment EHC Officers and EHC Coordinators to support children and young people aged 0–25 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
These roles play a vital part in ensuring children and young people receive high-quality, outcome-focused Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) that reflect their needs, aspirations and support pathways. About the Roles EHC Coordinator The EHC Coordinator role focuses on the coordination, maintenance and review of EHCPs, working closely with families, education providers and multi-agency professionals to ensure statutory compliance and meaningful outcomes.
Assessment EHC Officer The Assessment EHC Officer role focuses on managing assessments and drafting EHCPs, gathering and analysing advice from a range of professionals and leading on complex casework across all education phases.
Both roles require strong knowledge of SEND legislation, excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied caseload in a fast-paced environment. Essential Requirements (Applies to Both Roles) Hybrid role: Successful candidates must attend the office and work flexibly across Medway Hubs at least 3 days per week There is no flexibility on this requirement Proven experience across both pre-14 and post-14 pathways Previous experience managing EHCPs Previous local authority experience Strong understanding of the Children and Families Act 2014 and the SEND Code of Practice (2015)Key Responsibilities – EHC Coordinator Oversee the end-to-end process of EHCP maintenance, reviews and amendments, ensuring statutory deadlines are met Work collaboratively with children, young people, families, schools, colleges and multi-agency professionals Ensure EHCPs are outcome-focused, person-centred and legally compliant Act as a key point of contact for families, offering guidance and ensuring transparency Maintain accurate records, track progress and contribute to service improvementKey Responsibilities – Assessment EHC Officer Manage a large and varied caseload across all education phases Draft clear, high-quality and outcome-focused EHCPs based on robust assessments Gather, analyse and evaluate advice from education, health and social care professionals Communicate effectively with parents/carers, providers and partner agencies Use data and performance information to inform decision-making Lead and represent the service at key meetings, including:
Co-production sessions Ways Forward meetings Operational discussions Supporting tribunal-related activity Ensure full compliance with SEND legislation and statutory guidanceWhat We’re Looking For Highly organised professionals with strong attention to detail Confident communicators with experience working with families and multi-agency partners A commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people with SEND Ability to work under pressure while meeting statutory timescales
