The RoleAn established Birmingham-based design consultancy is looking for an Intermediate to Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join its team.This is a delivery-focused role, with approximately 90% of projects centred on detailed design work for contractor-led schemes. The successful candidate will be heavily involved in producing technical design packages and supporting projects through construction. Due to the collaborative nature of the work with contractors, this would predominantly office based, along with regular site attendance.This position would suit someone who enjoys hands-on technical delivery, resolving buildability challenges, and being actively involved in live project environments.Key ResponsibilitiesProduce detailed electrical design packages for contractor deliveryDevelop construction drawings, schematics, and technical specificationsCarry out load calculations, cable sizing, and system designCoordinate with mechanical, structural, and architectural teamsLiaise directly with contractors and subcontractorsAttend site meetings and provide technical support during installationResolve design and buildability issues on siteEnsure compliance with current UK regulations and standardsRequirementsDegree (or equivalent) in Electrical EngineeringProven experience in detailed electrical designStrong understanding of UK building services regulations and standardsExperience working directly with contractorsConfident attending and contributing to site meetingsExcellent written and spoken EnglishProficiency in relevant design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Amtech, Dialux or similar)DesirableWorking towards or holding Chartered Engineer statusExperience across commercial, residential, or infrastructure projectsKnowledge of lighting design, power distribution, and LV systemsExperience producing contractor-ready technical packagesWhy Join?Strong pipeline of contractor-led projectsHigh level of involvement from detailed design through to constructionOpportunity to take ownership of technical deliveryGrowing consultancy with long-term progression opportunitiesIf you think this could be for you or someone you know, please do get in touchJBRP1_UKTJ
