Job Description

Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer (Building Services)\nLocation: Croydon\nSalary: £70,000 - £75,000 + Package\n\nThe Role:\n\n * Support Preconstruction, Contracts and Project Managers with electrical design from RIBA Stage 3 through to Stage 4\n\n * Develop Stage 4i designs through to Stage 4ii/iii\n\n * Manage Contractor Design Portion (CDP) packages\n\n * Produce electrical designs including LV distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, fire alarms, containment and ELV systems\n\n * Coordinate CDP packages such as fire alarms, security systems, disabled refuge systems and structured cabling\n\n * Support delivery across healthcare, laboratory and commercial office (Shell & Core / CAT A) projects\n\n * Carry out electrical calculations (load assessments, cable sizing, voltage drop, fault levels, lighting design)\n\n * Ensure compliance with BS 7671, Building Regulations, HTM guidance and project specifications\n\n * Work closely with mechanical design teams to ensure coordinated M&E layouts\n\n * Produce and review drawings using AutoCAD and Revit in line with BIM requirements\n\n * Review subcontractor packages, supplier information and technical submittals\n\n * Liaise with site teams to ensure designs are practical, buildable and aligned with programme requirements\n\n * Attend design meetings, coordination reviews and site visits\n\nThe Company:\n\n * Established and well-respected M&E contractor\n\n * Delivering projects across healthcare, commercial and laboratory sectors\n\n * Strong pipeline of high-profile, technically challenging projects\n\n * Based in Croydon with projects across London and the South-East\n\n * Delivering both Design & Build and traditional contracts\n\nThe Ideal Candidate:\n\n * Degree, HND or HNC in Electrical or Building Services Engineering\n\n * Experience within an M&E contractor or subcontractor design environment\n\n * Strong knowledge of BS 7671 and UK building services standards\n\n * Experience using AutoCAD, Revit and electrical design software (Amtech / Trimble, Dialux / Relux etc.)\n\n * Good understanding of installation practices and on-site coordination\n\n * Experience on commercial, healthcare, laboratory or similar projects (desirable)\n\n * Familiarity with HTM standards and BIM Level 2 environments (desirable)\n\n * Working towards IEng or CEng (desirable)
