Electrical Design Engineer


We’re looking for a hands-on Electrical Design Engineer to join our growing engineering team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on innovative projects alongside Mechanical Design, Software, and Project teams—playing a key role in delivering high-quality engineered solutions.


The Role

You’ll be responsible for producing control panel layouts, schematic drawings, and component specifications, while supporting installation teams and clients throughout the project lifecycle.


Key Responsibilities

  • Produce electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic diagrams using Eplan Pro Panel
  • Specify and source components in line with project and cost requirements
  • Support PLC/HMI selection with the Software team
  • Provide technical support to service teams and customers
  • Work to customer specifications (URS) and relevant standards
  • Ensure compliance with standards such as BS7671, IEC 60204, ISO 13849, UL508A, NFPA79, AS3000
  • Support sales with technical input on enquiries
  • Conduct design calculations and produce supporting documentation
  • Collaborate with Mechanical Design to integrate control systems
  • Research and specify replacement components for legacy systems
  • Work with:
  • Low voltage AC systems (110V–600V, single & three phase)
  • Extra low voltage DC systems (typically 24V)


What We’re Looking For

  • Practical electrical wiring experience (mechanical knowledge beneficial)
  • Experience with electrical CAD (Eplan preferred)
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word & Excel)
  • Qualification to HNC/HND level or above in Electrical Engineering (or similar)
  • Ability to manage a varied workload with strong attention to detail
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to interpret technical drawings
  • A team player with the ability to work independently


Desirable Skills

  • Experience with international control panel standards (e.g. US, Australia)
  • BS7671 qualification
  • Knowledge of PLC platforms (Siemens, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi)
  • Familiarity with industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP, RS232/485)
