Job Title: Electrical Engineer
Description
We are hiring for our client, a leading power organisation in Northern Ireland, to recruit an Electrical Engineer to join their established Electrical Engineering department. This Electrical Engineer role supports both Ballylumford and Kilroot Power Stations, with approximately 80% of time based at Ballylumford and 20% at Kilroot .
This opportunity is predominantly project-focused , with the Electrical Engineer spending circa 75% of their time leading and delivering electrical engineering projects , and 25% providing hands-on technical support where required. The role covers new assets, modernisation programmes and the retrofit of ageing electrical infrastructure.
The position also offers hybrid working , with the option to work up to 2 days per week from home , subject to project and site requirements.

The Role
Reporting to the Lead Engineer - Electrical NI, the Electrical Engineer will be responsible for:
Leading and delivering electrical engineering projects including new installations, retrofit of obsolete equipment and asset modernisation initiatives
Maintaining the integrity, reliability and safety of electrical systems across Ballylumford and Kilroot
Providing technical leadership and oversight to internal teams and external contractors
Supporting the development of long-term asset management and maintenance strategies
Liaising with other engineering disciplines, operations and project teams to ensure coordinated delivery
Driving continuous improvement in engineering standards, safety processes and compliance
Using SAP/Eclipse systems for work management, safety documentation and materials control
Managing spares and liaising with OEMs and suppliers
Providing hands-on electrical engineering support where required (approx. 25%)
The Person
The successful Electrical Engineer will have:
Proven experience in electrical maintenance and project delivery within power or heavy industrial environments (essential)
Strong experience in retrofit, asset life-cycle management and modernisation projects (essential)
Demonstrable ability to lead projects from concept through to completion
Experience with generators, HV systems, transformers and switchgear testing (beneficial)
Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder engagement skills
A proactive mindset with confidence to take ownership
Qualifications
Third-level qualification (Degree / HNC / HND) in Electrical or Power Engineering (essential)
Chartered or working towards professional registration (desirable)
Power station experience
