Electrical Estimator

Bedfordshire | Full-Time | Permanent | £45,000 - £55,000

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Electrical Estimator to join a growing electrical contractor working across commercial refurbishment and fit-out projects.
This is a permanent opportunity for an estimator with strong technical knowledge, commercial awareness, and experience pricing electrical works within the construction sector. The role is primarily office-based in Bedfordshire, with occasional travel for site surveys, client meetings and tender reviews.
Projects typically include commercial offices, education, leisure and hospitality environments, and the successful candidate will play a key role in producing accurate tenders and supporting work-winning activity.
Electrical Estimator - Role Overview
As Electrical Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate, competitive and commercially sound tenders for a range of commercial electrical projects.
You will review drawings and specifications, manage enquiries, obtain supplier and subcontractor pricing, prepare tender submissions, and support handover to the delivery team once projects are secured.
Electrical Estimator - Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed electrical estimates and tender submissions
• Review drawings, specifications and employers requirements
• Identify discrepancies, gaps and commercial risks within tender documents
• Raise and manage RFIs with clients, consultants and design teams
• Source competitive prices from suppliers and wholesalers
• Issue subcontractor enquiries and assess returned quotations
• Produce bills of quantities, schedules of work and pricing documents
• Support final tender review process and commercial sign-off
• Prepare offer letters including exclusions, clarifications and programme details
• Manage multiple tenders at various stages
• Support project handover to operations and project delivery teams
• Assist with variations and ongoing commercial support where required

Electrical Estimator - Requirements

• Minimum 3 years experience as an Electrical Estimator
• Previous experience within electrical contracting or building services
• Strong technical knowledge of electrical installations, materials and methods
• Good understanding of BS 7671
• Experience using estimating software
• Good Microsoft Office skills
• Strong communication, organisation and time management skills
• Full UK driving licence

Desirable

• Experience using Ensign estimating software
• Background in commercial refurbishment, fit-out or M&E projects
• Experience pricing variations and supporting live projects commercially

Location: This role is based in Bedford and is mainly office-based but can offer hybrid 1 or 2 days per week, with some travel required for site visits and tender-related meetings.
