Job Title: Shift Maintenance Electrician\nLocation: Gateshead\nSalary: £46,405.13 (inclusive of 20% shift allowance)\nHours of Work: Rotating shift pattern between 05:30–17:30 and 17:30–05:30 (averaging 39 hours per week over the year)*\nBenefits\n * Service Bonus: 2% annual lump sum (December), increasing to 4% after 10 years and 5% after 20 years\n * Pension: 4–6% matched contribution (salary sacrifice)\n * Bonus Plan: Up to 5% of salary based on business performance\n * Holidays: Included within shift pattern\n * Healthcare: Onsite gym; corporate Health Cash Plan (contributions by employee for discounted dental, optical etc.)\n * Flexible Benefits: Cycle to Work scheme, discount vouchers, salary-sacrifice electric vehicle via Tusker\nJob Purpose\nTo ensure plant and production equipment are safe, reliable, and available for use through effective shift-based electrical maintenance. This includes responding to breakdowns, carrying out planned and preventative maintenance, and supporting other departments as needed to maintain smooth production operations.\nKey Responsibilities\nMaintenance & Troubleshooting\n• Respond quickly and effectively to machinery and equipment breakdowns\n• Conduct electrical maintenance on plant systems and process equipment\n• Identify electrical faults and complete repairs\n• Troubleshoot electrical issues using appropriate testing devices\n• Test electrical systems, components, and installations to ensure correct functioning\n• Perform inverter control work: replacement, setup, and tuning as required\n• Work safely and competently in medium to large process environments\nPlanned Preventative Maintenance (PPM)\n• Follow weekly planned maintenance schedules\n• Complete and close works orders accurately\n• Carry out planned and preventative maintenance on various plant systems\n• Maintain compliance with electrical codes and standards\nTechnical Expertise & Documentation\n• Program and fault-find on PLCs (preferably Allen Bradley)\n• Read, create, and modify electrical drawings\n• Write detailed shift reports and communicate issues to oncoming shifts\n• Attend maintenance meetings when required\nSafety, Quality & Collaboration\n• Take responsibility for personal and team safety at all times\n• Adhere to organisational safety policies, procedures, and electrical standards\n• Maintain cleanliness and good housekeeping in all work areas\n• Support production and quality teams where required\n• Assist other departments to maintain operational continuity\n• Work collaboratively as a flexible and proactive team member\nMeasurement of Effectiveness\n• Achievement of maintenance objectives\n• Reduction of site downtime (KPI-driven)\n• Quality and accuracy of maintenance records and shift reporting\n• Compliance with safety, quality, and engineering standards\nThe Company\nA leading, modern manufacturing operation committed to quality, safety, and strong engineering standards.
