Shift Pattern:
Monday – Friday: 06:00–14:00 / 14:00–22:00 (rotating weekly)
Participation in planned shutdowns and commissioning periods required, including 27th–31st December 2026 About the Role We are seeking a skilled Electrical Maintenance Engineer to support the safe, compliant, and reliable operation of heavy industrial production assets within a lead (Pb) manufacturing environment.
You will play a key role in maintaining and improving equipment across rolling mills, extrusion lines, CNC machining cells, and associated hydraulic and extraction systems.
This is a hands-on, shift-based engineering role combining reactive fault finding, preventative maintenance, and continuous improvement activity within a safety-critical environment.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose and resolve electrical and control system faults, including complex and intermittent issues, to minimise production downtime
Fault-find and maintain Mitsubishi and Siemens PLC-controlled systems (I/O, sequencing, alarms, communications)
Support and troubleshoot VFD and servo drive systems, including parameter adjustments and trip analysis
Maintain and fault-find electro-hydraulic systems, identifying issues such as pressure loss, overheating, contamination, drift, and valve failures
Ensure strict compliance with LOTO, isolation procedures, guarding, and functional safety testing
Support and maintain LEV/extraction systems, ensuring interlocks, sensors, and alarms function correctly and reliably
Carry out root cause analysis (RCA) and implement continuous improvement (CI) initiatives to reduce repeat failures and scrap
Support commissioning activities, including I/O checks, interlock validation, and controlled system testing
Maintain accurate technical documentation, including PLC backups, parameter records, and electrical/hydraulic drawings
Provide clear and structured shift handovers, ensuring continuity across teams
⚙️ Equipment You’ll Work On
Rolling mills (high-torque drives, tension control, safety interlocks)
Extrusion lines (multi-zone temperature control, hydraulics, LEV permissives)
CNC machining cells (safety circuits, machine interfaces, coolant/lubrication systems)
Hydraulic presses, guillotines, and power packs
LEV and extraction systems with airflow and differential pressure monitoring
Industrial heating systems including thermocouples, controllers, SSRs and contactors
What We’re Looking For
Strong industrial electrical maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
Proven ability to troubleshoot PLC-controlled systems
Experience with Siemens (TIA Portal) and/or Mitsubishi (GX Works) desirable
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics confidently
Good understanding of VFD/servo drive systems and diagnostics
Working knowledge of hydraulic systems and fault-finding principles
Strong problem-solving skills under pressure with a structured approach
Excellent communication and shift handover discipline Qualifications (Desirable)
HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering, Controls, Mechatronics (or equivalent experience)
PLC, servo or automation training (Siemens / Mitsubishi preferred)
Electrical safety training and/or hydraulic system experience Working Environment This is a heavy industrial environment involving exposure to heat, noise, and lead particulate materials. Strict PPE, hygiene controls, and safety procedures are in place at all times.
The role is fully hands-on and shop-floor based, with occasional support for contractors and commissioning activities.
What’s in it for You
Competitive hourly rate with shift allowance included
Overtime opportunities available
Company pension scheme
Training and development (PLC, electrical, mechanical upskilling)
Full PPE provided, including respiratory protection for lead environments
Opportunity to work on complex, heavy-industry systems with genuine technical depth
