Shape the future of nuclear infrastructure—drive electrical quality, compliance, and safety on high-impact projects in Reading Electrical Quality Engineer 6 month contractReading (site-based with occasional travel)About the Role We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Quality Engineer to join our team within the nuclear sector. This is a critical role responsible for ensuring that all electrical systems, installations, and components meet the highest standards of safety, compliance, and performance within a highly regulated environment. You will play a key role in maintaining nuclear safety standards, supporting quality assurance processes, and ensuring full compliance with statutory regulations and industry codes. Key Responsibilities Perform inspections and verification of electrical installations in line with project specifications and regulatory standards Ensure compliance with nuclear industry quality standards, including ISO 9001 and site-specific proceduresReview electrical drawings, test results, and certification documentationConduct audits of installation and commissioning activitiesSupport the implementation of Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs)Identify non-conformances and lead root cause analysis and corrective actionsLiaise with engineering, construction, and commissioning teams to resolve quality issuesEnsure all work complies with relevant UK regulations (e.g. BS 7671 Wiring Regulations)Maintain accurate quality records and support internal and external auditsCompile and collate Lifetime Quality Records (LTQRs) in line with project and regulatory requirementsPromote a strong safety and quality culture across all activities About You Essential Qualifications & Experience Recognised electrical qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical Installation)City & Guilds 2391 (Inspection & Testing)City & Guilds 2382 (18th Edition Wiring Regulations)Proven experience in an electrical quality, inspection, or commissioning roleStrong knowledge of BS 7671 and electrical compliance requirementsExperience working in highly regulated environments (e.g. nuclear, defence, oil & gas) Personal Attributes Strong attention to detail with a commitment to safety and qualityExcellent problem-solving and analytical skillsConfident communicator with the ability to challenge and influence stakeholdersAbility to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team Company informationAt First Recruitment Group we understand just how important it is to secure the right people.
