The Engineering Team The Engineering team consists of approximately 56 skilled professionals providing 24/7 support across three critical sites, including: - Corporate office environments - Production and operational facilities - Data centre infrastructure All locations require highly reliable engineering services to ensure continuous operations and uptime. Role Overview As a Shift Technician, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality engineering maintenance and operational support across the estate. You will be responsible for both Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance, ensuring all critical systems operate safely, efficiently, and without interruption. Working closely with the Shift Leader, OEM contractors, and wider engineering teams, you will support uptime, compliance, and a proactive safety culture within a mission-critical environment. Key Responsibilities Maintenance & Operations - Deliver Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) using IWMS systems (Planon) - Respond to reactive maintenance tasks, minimising operational disruption - Conduct routine inspections of plant and infrastructure - Diagnose faults, prioritise actions, and carry out effective repairs - Maintain and troubleshoot: - HVAC systems - Electrical systems (LV/HV) - Public health systems - Fire detection and life-safety systems - Support statutory inspections, compliance testing, and audits - Act as Authorised Person (AP) for LV and/or mechanical systems (where required) - Provide accurate shift handovers and maintain technical documentation Compliance & Safety - Collaborate with OEM contractors and specialist vendors - Promote a strong Health & Safety culture - Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, Safe Systems of Work, and site procedures - Participate in: - On-call rota - Incident response and escalation - Business continuity and resilience exercises - Complete required training, competency assessments, and performance objectives Skills & Experience Essential - City & Guilds Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical, Mechanical, or Building Services Engineering - Experience in critical environments (e.g. data centres or facilities management) - Strong knowledge of: - HVAC and BMS systems - Electrical systems (LV/HV) - Public health and life-safety systems - Experience with IWMS / CAFM systems (ideally Planon) - Familiarity with Safe Systems of Work and statutory compliance - Ability to read and interpret MEP drawings and technical schematics Desirable - Previous Authorised Person (AP) experience (LV or HV) - IOSH Managing Safely (or willingness to obtain) - Experience in high-security or regulated environments Candidate Profile - Strong problem-solving and analytical skills - Clear and effective communication (written and verbal) - Proactive, solutions-focused mindset - High attention to detail and quality of work - Ability to work collaboratively in a shift-based team - Strong time management and prioritisation skills Additional Requirements - Ability to obtain Security Check (SC) clearance (sponsored) - Flexibility to work a 24/7 shift pattern, including on-call duties Why Join? - Work for a prestigious, nationally significant organisation - Be part of a high-performing engineering team supporting critical infrastructure - Gain exposure to complex, multi-site environments including data centres - Excellent training, development, and career progression opportunities - Strong benefits package and long-term job security
