Job DescriptionAbout the Role Electrician
Southern Housing is looking for a skilled Electrician to join our Direct Services team, delivering a high-quality, -focused repairs and maintenance service. You’ll play a key role in reactive repairs, inspections, and compliance work across occupied and void properties, helping ensure our have safe, well-maintained homes.
You’ll work as part of a dedicated team but will be trusted to manage your own workload efficiently, always aiming for a first-time fix and excellent customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities Electrician
Carry out electrical repairs, maintenance, inspections, testing and surveys in line with regulations and safety standards Complete work orders and reports accurately using mobile systems Deliver works within agreed response times and quality standards Diagnose and rectify faults efficiently, minimising repeat visits Support emergency call-out services via a fair rota system Liaise professionally with , including those who may be vulnerable Support team colleagues, including mentoring when required Ensure tools, stock, and company vehicles are maintained safely and responsibly Promote health & safety, compliance, equality, and Southern Housing’s HEART values
What We’re Looking For
Proven experience in electrical maintenance or installation within housing or a similar environment Recognised electrical qualifications, including: NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent) with AM2 / AM2E 18th Edition Wiring Regulations Inspection & Testing qualification (e.g. 2391 or 2395) Strong working knowledge of building regulations, NICEIC standards and health & safety legislation Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively Excellent communication and customer-focused approach Willingness to participate in out-of-hours and emergency rotas Full UK driving licence
