Job Description
BASED AT THE MANCHESTER UNIVERSITY\n\n PERMANENT POSITION \n\nSalary between £(phone number removed) and £(phone number removed) depending on experience\n\n * 35 hours per week Monday to Friday.\n\n * Flexibility essential between 9:00am and 6:00pm.\n\nJOB OVERVIEW:\n\n * Equipment maintenance.\n\n * Technical troubleshooting.\n\n * Providing essential support to both students and staff.\n\n * Ensuring the smooth operation of teaching laboratories.\n\n * Prepare and maintain teaching spaces, support practical classes with a team\n\nESSENTIAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS\n\nEssential Skills & Experience\n\n * Qualification in engineering or science (HNC, HND, degree, or equivalent).\n\n * Strong practical background in electronics or electrical engineering.\n\n * Skilled in testing, fault-finding, and repair of technical equipment.\n\n * Knowledge of microcontrollers, PCB design, and soldering techniques.\n\n * Good IT and communication skills.\n\n * Excellent organisation and time management.\n\n * Sound knowledge of health and safety in technical environments.\n\nDesirable\n\n * Experience in an educational or research setting.\n\n * Familiarity with LabVIEW, Simulink, or 3D CAD software.\n\n * Flexible approach and willingness to support wider technical teams.\n\nMain Duties\n\n * Set up and maintain laboratory and workshop equipment for practical sessions.\n\n * Carry out repairs, servicing, and preventative maintenance.\n\n * Diagnose and resolve electrical and electronic faults.\n\n * Support students and staff with safe use of tools and equipment.\n\n * Order and manage stock, components, and consumables.\n\n * Ensure all work follows health and safety procedures including risk assessments and COSHH.\n\n * Induct and train users on safe practices.\n\n * Liaise with suppliers and contractors for servicing and repairs.\n\n * Provide technical support across other areas when required.\n\nPlease apply online.\n\n.\n\nThe Clever Fish Recruitment review all applications.
