Job Title: Electronics Safety and Reliability Engineer

Type: Full Time

Location: Derby / Glasgow, Hybrid Working

The EC&I Systems and Safety team develops the system design, safety case, and information assurance case for the Reactor Control and Instrumentation, Power Systems, and Plant Sensors for the Dreadnought and SSN AUKUS classes of submarine.

Responsibilities

1. Support current and future safety campaigns, working with key stakeholders to perform electrical control systems safety analysis and manage safety requirements.
2. Develop modern standard safety cases and undertake hazard identification and safety analysis.
3. Justify equipment categorization and classification compliance.
4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to produce and present substantiation and implement engineering changes.
5. Complete failure modes and effects analysis, fault tree analysis, and functional failure analysis.
6. Prepare technical reports and documentation aligned with engineering best practices.

Qualifications

Essential: Degree in Engineering, Maths, Physics, or equivalent experience. Demonstrated proactivity, determination, and focus on delivery. Ability to produce clear, concise, and accurate technical reports.

Preferred: Experience with hazard identification techniques such as FMEAs, HAZOPs, Fault & Event Tree Analysis, and reliability evaluation methods.
