A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Embedded Digital Design Engineer to join a specialist engineering department to support the development of complex, cutting-edge embedded digital systems.


This role performs the duties of an Embedded Digital Design Engineer and reports to a senior engineering lead within a multi-disciplinary team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of complex embedded digital systems across the full lifecycle
  • Support system architecture and embedded design, including partitioning functionality between software and FPGA domains
  • Design and implement solutions across embedded software, FPGA and digital hardware domains
  • Undertake integration and on-target test of embedded systems on real hardware platforms
  • Work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary engineering teams to deliver robust solutions
  • Support design verification, performance analysis and system optimisation activities
  • Engage in continuous improvement and skills development across embedded technologies


The ideal candidate would have

  • A background in digital hardware design, FPGA design (firmware) or embedded software design
  • Experience or knowledge of embedded digital system design and modelling
  • Understanding of system partitioning between software and programmable logic
  • Exposure to integration and test of embedded systems
  • An interest in working on complex, safety-critical or security-critical systems
  • A degree-level qualification in Engineering or an equivalent discipline


The ideal candidate must have

  • Strong problem-solving skills and a practical engineering mindset
  • The ability to work effectively within multi-disciplinary engineering teams
  • A genuine interest in advanced embedded and digital technologies
  • The flexibility to contribute across multiple technical domains as required
