To support this work, we are seeking an experienced Employee Relations & People Advisory Team Lead to provide both strategic and operational leadership across employee relations and people advisory services, ensuring the delivery of a consistent, high-quality, and business-focused HR service.

About the role

Reporting to the Head of People and embedded within the People Partner team, this newly created role will lead a small team of Employee Relations Advisors and People Advisors. You will support our ambition to enhance the employee experience and help make SMG an exceptional place to work, enabling our national museums to achieve their strategic objectives.

You will set up and embed existing employee relations and advisory support into a new and distinct centre of expertise (CoE) fully embedded in the People Partner Team. This new team will connect specialist employee relations expertise with generalist people advisory support, working closely with People Partners to establish clear governance and effective frameworks. This team will be a key interface between the People Partner Team and People Talent & Operations, working closely with the People Support Team to ensure a seamless employee experience across the full employment lifecycle.

About you

Joining us, you will bring significant experience operating at a senior HR or employee relations level within a complex, multi-site organisation. You will hold deep knowledge of UK employment law and ER best practice as well as proven experience establishing employee relations governance and processes. As a senior ER professional, you will combine your expertise in managing complex and high-risk employee relations cases (including experience of tribunal preparation) with strong professional judgement. As a Team Lead, you will bring leadership experience, with the ability to develop and empower teams while driving service excellence.
