Engineering Manager - Start-Up/Scale-Up - Data/ML/AI Organisation

£140,000 - £160,000

Highly successful, award winning, high growth scale-up looking for an experienced and driven Engineering Manager to join their team.

As Engineering Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the next chapter of company technological journey. Working closely with the CTO, you’ll lead the design and delivery of AI focused systems that power the products, ensuring the Company continue to innovate while scaling reliably and efficiently.

You’ll join a high-performing, cross-domain team spanning mobile, backend, and data science - acting as the glue that connects architecture, product, and engineering strategy. This is an opportunity to:

We are looking for an engineer and natural problem solver, with strong commercial acumen, able to connect technical decisions to business outcomes. You will have deep technical literacy across multiple domains: backend, data, and mobile. Experience in architecting and scaling complex software systems. Comfortable operating in a high-growth, product-led environment. Data-driven, detail-oriented, and capable of critical systems thinking. Background in AI and Machine Learning systems.

Prior people management or team leadership experience is a must as is experience in start-up or scale-up environment.

What we’re looking for: Partner with the CTO to refine and execute the technical strategy and roadmap. Lead the Engineering & Architecture and delivery of AI-powered systems that underpin Company products. Ensure cohesion across mobile, backend, and data platforms, enabling scalable and secure growth. Work hands-on where needed, diving into the details to understand and guide engineering challenges. Collaborate with product and data teams to ensure our AI systems deliver measurable business value. Champion engineering excellence, from code quality and data integrity to system resilience and performance. Contribute to hiring, mentoring, and enabling engineering teams.

Engineering experience within some of the following: Go, Rust, Python, AWS, GCP is a must. Previous experience across IOS/Android is highly desirable.
