Engineering Project Manager (Automation)
Salary: £45,944 - £49,654, plus 10% annual bonus (subject to eligibility), 25 days annual leave, bank holidays, and a company pension scheme.
Employment Type: Full time, 41 hours/week, remote options available.
Role Overview: We are seeking a hands-on, technically proficient Engineering Project Deployment Manager with a background in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and experience in Automation projects, including conveyor systems and robotics. This is a site-based role working closely with the Technical Project Manager to deliver automation solutions from design through installation, commissioning, and handover across Royal Mail sites.
About the Role
- Plan and manage the safe and timely deployment of automation projects.
- Coordinate stakeholders, suppliers, and internal teams for successful project execution.
- Oversee plant layouts, installations, and disruption planning with operations teams.
- Lead site activities including safety, coordination, delivery, and compliance (CDM, PUWER, UKCA).
- Manage supplier performance, value for money, and commissioning.
- Support project reporting, trials, and launch plans.
About You
- Qualified Mechanical/Electrical/Automation engineer.
- Experience in end-to-end site deployments and project delivery.
- Strong understanding of CDM regulations and site safety (SMSTS preferred).
- Skilled in MS Project, Excel, AutoCAD, and stakeholder communication.
- Mobile and flexible, with a proactive, team-oriented approach.
While primarily based at the Gloucester Manufacturing Facility, the role may require travel across the UK and Northern Ireland. Occasional remote working may be possible.
