Job Title: English Teacher (QTS) - Secondary PRU Location: West Drayton Salary: MPS / UPS + SEN Allowance
About The Role:
We are seeking a passionate and resilient English Teacher (with QTS) to join our dedicated team at our Secondary Pupil Referral Unit (PRU). This is a unique opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of young people who have experienced barriers to mainstream education.
As part of our committed and supportive staff, you will deliver engaging and differentiated English lessons to students who often present with social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH), behavioural challenges, or other complex backgrounds. You will play a key role in re-engaging learners with education and helping them achieve positive outcomes both academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan and deliver high-quality, tailored English lessons in line with the National Curriculum. * Develop creative strategies to engage learners who may have become disillusioned with education. * Build strong, positive relationships with students to foster trust and respect. * Work collaboratively with a skilled multi-disciplinary team, including pastoral and therapeutic staff. * Track and monitor student progress, setting realistic but ambitious targets for achievement. * Support students in developing essential literacy skills alongside their personal development.
Person Specification:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - Essential. * Strong knowledge of the English curriculum across KS3 and KS4. * Experience working with young people with challenging behaviours, SEMH needs, or within alternative provisions is highly desirable. * Excellent classroom management and behaviour management skills. * Empathy, resilience, and a genuine passion for inclusive education.
