About the role

We are seeking an inspiring, committed English Teacher to join our thriving secondary school in Scunthorpe on a full time, permanent basis. You will deliver engaging lessons raising attainment and fostering a love of literature and language.

Key responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality, differentiated English lessons.
  • Track progress, provide timely feedback, and implement effective intervention strategies
  • Contribute to curriculum development, assessment design, and enrichment activities
  • Create an inclusive, safe, and purposeful learning environment
  • Build strong relationships with pupils, parents/carers, and colleagues
  • Participate in departmental meetings, CPD, and whole-school initiatives

About you

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) and degree in English or a related discipline
  • Evidence of successful classroom practice and strong outcomes
  • Excellent subject knowledge, pedagogy, and behaviour management
  • High expectations for all learners and a commitment to inclusion
  • Strong communication, organisation, and teamwork skills
  • Willingness to contribute to wider school life (clubs, trips, competitions)
