Retail Payments Enterprise Architect

6 month contract with potential extension

We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect to help shape the future of the UK’s next‑generation retail payments infrastructure. This role offers the opportunity to work at the forefront of national‑level innovation, partnering closely with industry leaders, design authorities, and delivery teams to define and deliver a truly transformative payments proposition.


What you’ll be doing

  • Developing high‑level designs for the next generation of retail payment systems
  • Researching best practices across UK and global payment ecosystems and translating insights into strategic recommendations
  • Engaging with industry stakeholders to understand their needs, journeys, and challenges
  • Designing end‑to‑end user journeys that support a modernised payments landscape
  • Producing papers, recommendations, and strategic narratives for internal and external boards and forums
  • Working with the Retail Payment Innovation Board Design Authority and the Delivery Company to ensure alignment across all workstreams

  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to gain buy‑in from diverse stakeholders
  • Strong analytical capability to deconstruct complex problems and develop sound, strategic recommendations
  • Ability to evaluate competing architectural choices and align decisions to public‑policy and strategic drivers
