Enterprise Architect (Payments) - Contract
Contract Details
Location: London (Hybrid - minimum 40% onsite)
Duration: April 2026 - June 2026
Rate: £550/day Inside IR35
Clearance: SC Clearance required
We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect to support a high-profile public sector initiative focused on the future of retail payments infrastructure in the UK.
This is a strategic, insight-driven role where you will shape next- payment systems, influence senior stakeholders, and contribute to nationally significant technology outcomes.
The Role
You will operate at a strategic level, producing high-level designs and recommendations that will help define the future of retail payments. This role combines architecture, service design, and policy-aligned technology strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Develop high-level enterprise architecture designs for modern payment systems
Analyse complex challenges and produce clear, strategic recommendations
Research best practices across payment ecosystems and comparable industries
Design end-to-end user journeys and service experiences
Engage with industry stakeholders to understand needs and processes
Produce thought leadership papers to influence decision-making forums
Collaborate with design authorities and delivery teams to ensure alignment
Key Skills & Experience
Strong experience in Enterprise Architecture & high-level design
Knowledge of retail payments systems/financial infrastructure
Experience with service design and user journey mapping
Ability to analyse complex problems and evaluate strategic options
Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
Experience influencing senior stakeholders and gaining buy-in
Desirable
Background in architecture or design disciplines
Experience delivering large-scale or public sector programmes
Direct experience with payments systems or financial regulation
