About The RoleEnvironmental Sustainability Advisor- Permanent Opportunity Division: Civil EngineeringLocation: Hillsborough, Northern Ireland.BENEFITS: Car allowance,Pension, Subsidised Private Medical Cover, Life Assurance Scheme, Car AllowanceJob SummaryThe Environmental Sustainability Assistant provides data-driven support to the organisations environmental and carbon management activities, with a primary focus on the collection, validation, analysis and reporting of corporate carbon data and environmental metrics from construction sites and business units.This role is ideal for a graduate or early-career professional who is highly proficient in Excel and data analysis, and who wants to develop a career in sustainability, carbon management or environmental performance within a large, complex organisation.Job DescriptionKey Responsibilities Collect environmental performance data for monitoring, analysis and reporting against targets and objectivesSupport the collection of scope 1,2 and 3 carbon dataMaintain clear, structured datasets to support corporate reporting and that are suitable for audits and assurance activities.Assist in the trend analysis of Environmental KPIs and the evaluation of site and regional performance relating to carbon, energy, waste, water, biodiversity, and other parameters as requiredSupport the implementation of PAS2080 across projectsSupport site teams in meeting their site environmental KPIs. Identify anomalies, trends and data gaps, and work with site teams to resolve them.Play a leading role within Environmental working groups to support company initiativesSupport wider sustainability initiatives as requiredAssist in the administration of close out actions from environmental compliance auditsReview subcontract documentation as it relates to environmental controlsCompile case studies for sharing of best practice environmental measuresPrepare and deliver Environmental training and briefingsAssist in the co-ordination and assemble of environmental awards submissionsPrepare responses for PQQs / Bids / Tenders as requiredAssist in undertaking improvements to the EMSEssential CriteriaDegree (or working towards) in Environmental Management, Sustainability, Geography, Data Analysis, Construction or a related discipline.Knowledge of relevant Environmental issues including climate action, Environmental management and improvement, conserving resources and protecting the environmentFamiliarity with carbon metrics, environmental KPIs or sustainability reportingConfidence working with large datasets and numerical information.High attention to detail and a methodical approach to data handling.Excellent numeracy and excel skillsGood written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work independently while managing multiple deadlines.Interest in sustainability, carbon or environmental performance.Ability to work collaboratively with a range of project stakeholders.Full driving licenceDesirable CriteriaMembership of a relevant professional body e.g. ISEPExposure to carbon accounting or sustainability reporting in construction.Awareness of the relevant management standardsDemonstrate a sound understanding of construction processesThis job description is intended to give the post holder an appreciation of the role envisaged for the Environmental Sustainability Assistant and the range of duties to be undertaken.It does not attempt to detail every activity.
