Responsibilities
Lead estimating service delivery, focusing on leading estimates from feasibility through to completion.
Work across projects of different types and sectors, producing estimates ranging from high‑level order‑of‑magnitude costs to first‑principle bottom‑up estimates.
Demonstrate and utilise an advanced understanding of typical measurement methods and complete full take‑off independently, providing support to colleagues where required.
Deliver high‑quality client outputs, ranging from estimating direct and indirect costs to and assuring estimates provided by others.
Lead on peer review of outputs from other team members to support continuous improvement and provide guidance to more junior colleagues.
Independently author basis‑of‑estimate documents and demonstrate proficiency in estimating specific software and generic office applications.
Utilise client, market and in‑house benchmarking data to independently form and assess estimates.
Lead internal review and quality assurance processes for client deliverables.
Manage complex stakeholder relationships, communicating complex issues in a straightforward format to achieve positive resolutions.
Be a subject‑matter expert within the wider team to incorporate the best knowledge and information into client deliverables.
Lead connection with the wider team and leadership in our Estimating & Cost Advisory practice.
Support win‑work activities (bids, proposals, etc.) to grow our portfolio.
Provide team input to continuously improve the quality of client deliverables and support the development of a high‑performing practice team.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Estimating, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Construction sectors or equivalent work experience.
Desirable professional memberships or working towards chartership (RICS, ICE, AACE, ACostE or similar).
Strong understanding of typical approaches to applying contingency and risk allowances.
Wider understanding of commercial and contractual requirements and the impact on estimating or forecasting costs.
Deep knowledge of indirect costs, cost breakdown structures and techniques to analyse and assess project delivery.
Stakeholder engagement skills, working seamlessly with designers, engineers, project managers and clients.
Clear understanding of the role of consultancy organisations on projects, adaptable to multiple sectors and disciplines, with the drive to learn new skills.
Capability to obtain a level of security clearance (ideal but not always necessary).
