Estimator (Carpentry & Joinery)

Location: Woking Office Based
Salary: £65,000 £75,000 (DOE)
Job Type: Permanent


The Opportunity

Established carpentry & joinery contractor in Woking is looking for a commercially capable Estimator who can take real ownership of the pre-construction function with involvement in the wider commercial process.

This role isnt just take-offs and sending quotes.

You will be heavily involved in pricing, commercial input, and supporting project delivery through to final account where required.


The Role

  • Pricing carpentry & joinery packages (residential & commercial)

  • Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documents

  • Producing detailed take-offs and cost breakdowns

  • Subcontractor & supplier enquiries

  • Value engineering input

  • Supporting valuations and variations where required

  • Working closely with Directors on commercial strategy


This is ideal for someone currently working as:

  • Estimator within a carpentry or joinery contractor

  • Estimator within a fit-out subcontractor managing carpentry packages

  • QS / Estimator looking for a more commercially rounded role


What Theyre Looking For

  • Strong estimating experience within carpentry, joinery or fit-out

  • Good understanding of labour outputs and package pricing

  • Comfortable handling commercial discussions

  • Able to support basic QS functions (variations, cost tracking, valuations)

  • Organised, commercially aware and self-sufficient

You must understand how a subcontractor business makes money - not just how to build a rate.
