You'll be the technical/commercial link between customers, suppliers and internal production/quality teams.Key responsibilitiesEstimating & commercialProduce detailed cost estimates for CNC machined components/assemblies from RFQs, drawings and specificationsInterpret complex drawings including GD&T, tolerances, surface finishes and material requirementsObtain competitive pricing for external processes (e.g. heat treatment, coating, NDT)Support pricing strategy to stay competitive while protecting marginClarify technical and commercial requirements with customers during quotationSales & customer interfaceAct as technical point of contact for key oil & gas and aerospace customersBuild relationships to support repeat and new businessAttend customer meetings, technical reviews and support contract negotiationsIdentify value engineering and cost-reduction opportunitiesProduction & engineering supportEnsure smooth handover into production with planning and quality teamsReview manufacturability and advise best machining methods, tooling and processesSupport process planning, fixture input and continuous improvementHelp resolve production issues and non-conformancesCompliance & qualityEnsure alignment with AS9100, ISO 9001 and customer-specific requirementsUnderstand traceability, material certification and regulatory obligationsWhat we're looking forExperience5-10+ years in precision engineering / subcontract machiningEstimating and/or production engineering experienceExposure to oil & gas and/or aerospace components and standardsTechnical / commercial / personal skillsStrong CNC machining knowledge (turning, milling, multi-axis)Confident with complex drawings and GD&TERP/MRP and estimating software experienceMaterials knowledge (e.g. Inconel, titanium, stainless steels, duplex)Familiarity with special processes (NDT, coatings, heat treatment)Strong cost analysis and pricing skills; margin/overhead awarenessCustomer-facing communication, accuracy, proactive problem-solving, able to meet tight deadlinesThis is a permanent job.
