This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Estimator to join a long-established, family-run building contractor where you will take full ownership of tenders and play a key role in securing a steady pipeline of varied, high-quality projects. About the Company This is a well-established, family-owned building contractor with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality projects across the commercial, education, healthcare, and residential sectors. Projects typically range from smaller works through to £50k£2m, providing a good mix of variety and technical challenge. The business has built long-standing relationships with its clients and is known for its supportive, down-to-earth culture, where individuals are trusted, respected, and given real responsibility. The Role As Estimator, you will take full ownership of tenders from initial enquiry through to final submission, working closely with the Directors and playing a key role in winning work. Key responsibilities include: Preparing accurate and competitive tenders across a range of building projects Reviewing drawings, specifications, and tender documentation Managing subcontractor and supplier enquiries and analysing returns Identifying risks, opportunities, and value engineering options Attending site visits and pre-tender meetings Taking full responsibility for tender submissions and deadlines Supporting the handover of successful tenders into project delivery This is a hands-on role offering full visibility and involvement across the entire pre-construction process. Requirements Proven experience working as an Estimator within the construction or building sector Ability to manage tenders independently and take full ownership of the process Experience pricing projects across sectors such as commercial, education, healthcare, or residential Strong understanding of construction methods, costs, and procurement Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and technical documentation Good commercial awareness and attention to detail A proactive, self-sufficient approach with the confidence to work closely with senior stakeholders This role would suit candidates currently working as: Estimator, Senior Estimator, or Pre-Construction Estimator.
