A well-established civil engineering and groundworks contractor is seeking an experienced Estimator / Quantity Surveyor to join their team, operating across North West England and North Wales.

This role would suit a dependable, technically strong QS who has naturally moved into estimating and enjoys a hands-on, varied role within an SME environment.

The Role

This is a mixed estimating and traditional QS position, managing the full commercial lifecycle of heavy civils and groundworks projects ranging from £5k to £3m+.

Key responsibilities include:

Preparing estimates for tenders, smaller works and variations
Managing project accounts from start to final account
Take-offs, remeasures and cost control
Pricing, buying and procuring materials and subcontract packages
Producing additional costings and assisting with tenders as required
Monthly reporting to senior management on progress, profitability and forecast completion
Supporting the business in sourcing and securing new work
Liaising professionally with clients, suppliers and internal teamsProjects are 100% heavy civils and groundworks, candidates with only housebuilding or general build experience will not be suitable.

Experience Required

Minimum 5 years’ experience in a civils/groundworks QS or Estimator role
Strong background in heavy civils and groundworks
Experience working under NEC, JCT and bespoke contracts
Confident managing both estimating and QS duties
Professionally qualified or QBE considered
Experience producing Bills of Quantities is advantageousThis role is ideal for someone seeking stability, variety, and a long-term position within a practical, no-nonsense civil engineering contractor
