Your new role
A Quantity Surveyor is responsible for assessing the client's requirements and reviewing project plans and specifications to determine the scope of work, materials, and labour needs. They collaborate closely with architects, engineers, and project managers to ensure accurate cost estimates. Site visits are conducted to gather essential information, and quantities are measured using specialised software to prepare the Bill of Quantities. The QS prepares and issues enquiries to subcontractors and suppliers, analyses their proposals to ensure alignment with client expectations, and identifies risks and opportunities to inform pricing decisions. They also prepare preliminaries for tender adjudication, ensure key issues are addressed, and manage the evaluation and submission of tenders. Post-tender, they engage in negotiations with the client team to secure favourable outcomes.

What you'll need to succeed

  • A minimum of 3 year's experience in estimating, surveying or working within the Construction industry
  • Knowledge of construction industry standards, practices, and materials
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good communication and negotiation skills
  • Professionally qualified preferably construction related or equivalent proven ability and experience in similar role
  • Proficient computer skills, particularly Conquest estimating software and Excel
  • Hold a full UK driving license
