Salary: £40,000 per annum + Paid Overtime Hours: 45 per week The Opportunity
We are looking for a passionate and accomplished Event Sous Chef to join a vibrant culinary team in Watford. This is a fantastic opportunity for a chef with a strong hospitality background who is eager to showcase creativity and precision across a diverse portfolio of events. From elegant corporate functions to high-end private occasions, you will play a key role in delivering exceptional dining experiences. The Role
Working closely with the Head Chef, you will be instrumental in the planning, preparation, and execution of menus tailored to a variety of events. You will take the lead in the kitchen during service, ensuring seamless delivery, impeccable presentation, and the highest culinary standards. Experience in fine dining, events, or la carte restaurants would be advantageous.
Ability to plan work efficiently, manage time effectively, and work on your own initiative.
Collaborate with the Executive Chef to develop bespoke menus and catering packages within budget constraints.
Strong culinary skills and a solid understanding of current food trends.
Consistently maintain and deliver high standards of food quality.
A genuine passion for food is essential.
Ensure compliance with all current food safety and health & safety regulations.
Adaptability to meet varying client needs is important.

Key Responsibilities Collaborate on innovative, seasonally inspired menus for a wide range of events
Lead and coordinate kitchen operations during live service
Uphold exceptional standards of food quality, presentation, and hygiene
Support stock management, ordering, and efficient kitchen organisation
Mentor and guide junior chefs, fostering a positive team culture
About You Experienced at Sous Chef level within hospitality or event catering
Calm and confident in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
Creative flair combined with strong attention to detail
Excellent leadership and communication skills
Flexible and committed, with a genuine passion for food and service
Working Pattern 5 days out of 7
Predominantly Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend and evening commitments
Varied hours in line with event schedules
Overtime/time in lieu paid for additional hours worked
