Payrate : £350–£400 per day (Umbrella)

Duration : 3 months in the first instance (strong potential for extension)


Overview

We’re looking for a hands-on Operations Manager to run Facilities Management across this Local Authorities Head Quarters – a high-profile, flagship site blending heritage and modern spaces - approx. 18,000 m² The site offers a wide range of facilities - including but not limited to weddings, civic events, council chamber functions, business operations, arts and culture, dining and community events.


You’ll be the driving force behind smooth, safe, and efficient operations. Leading a multi-disciplinary FM team and managing contractors, you’ll ensure top-notch customer experiences, compliance, and sustainability. You’ll also oversee budgets, contracts, and projects, keeping the site performing at its best – every day.


This role is fast-paced, high-profile, and requires someone who can make things happen, engage with senior stakeholders, and be totally hands-on when needed.


Responsibilities

  • Lead, inspire, and motivate FM teams and contractors across the site including security, cleaning, porterage, courier services, and more.
  • Ensure safe, compliant, and efficient day-to-day operations across the site
  • Deliver excellent visitor and customer experiences.
  • Manage budgets, contracts, suppliers, and projects – driving value for money.
  • Maintain emergency plans, compliance, and heritage standards.
  • Embed sustainability and net-zero practices across operations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to improve efficiency and performance.


Your experience

  • Experienced senior FM or operations manager, ideally in complex or high-profile environments.
  • Strong leader with a proven track record of building high-performing teams.
  • Hands-on, practical, and comfortable on-site.
  • Confident communicator with senior stakeholders and external partners.
  • Skilled in budgets, contracts, compliance, and operational strategy.
  • Flexible, proactive, and able to juggle multiple priorities.
