Job Overview

Adam Bernard Solicitors is seeking an experienced and motivated Family Solicitor to join our growing team. The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload of private and Legal Aid family matters, delivering high-quality legal advice and representation to clients in often sensitive and complex situations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of family law matters from instruction to completion
  • Handle cases including divorce, financial remedy, child arrangements, domestic abuse, injunctions, and care proceedings
  • Conduct Legal Aid work where applicable, ensuring full compliance with Legal Aid Agency requirements
  • Represent clients in court hearings and liaise with counsel where necessary
  • Draft legal documents including applications, witness statements, and court bundles
  • Provide clear, practical, and empathetic legal advice to clients
  • Maintain accurate file management and billing records
  • Meet departmental billing and performance targets
  • Contribute to the growth and development of the family department
  • Experience in handling care proceedings and representing clients at PLO (Public Law Outline) meetings, including advising on pre-proceedings and safeguarding matters.


Requirements
  • Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with a valid practising certificate
  • Minimum 3 years PQE in family law
  • Experience handling Legal Aid matters (preferred/essential depending on role)
  • Strong knowledge of family law procedures and court processes
  • Excellent advocacy, drafting, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to manage a busy caseload independently
  • Strong client care and communication skills
Desirable
  • Law Society Family Law Accreditation or Children Panel membership
  • Experience in advocacy and representing clients at hearings
  • Experience in care proceedings and PLO matters
Performance Expectations
  • Achieve billing targets equivalent to 3.5 times annual salary
  • Maintain compliance with Legal Aid and regulatory standards
  • Deliver high standards of client care
  • Contribute to business development and client growth
