Location: Fully Remote (within approx. 1 hour of Chelmsford)Salary: £45,000 – £60,000 + bonus potential Are you a Family Solicitor looking for a role that genuinely offers flexibility, autonomy and a sustainable workload? Many roles promise work-life balance but still come with heavy billing targets, rigid office expectations and little control over your diary. This opportunity offers something genuinely different. We are working with a specialist family law firm that operates on a fully remote, trust-based model, designed to allow solicitors to do excellent legal work while maintaining a healthy balance with life outside the office. Due to continued demand and a steady flow of client referrals, the firm is now looking to recruit one or two Family Solicitors (3+ PQE) to join its growing team. This is a rare opportunity to work in a genuinely flexible environment where trust, autonomy and wellbeing are prioritised, while still benefiting from excellent quality work and strong senior legal support. The Role You will manage your own private family law caseload, advising clients on a broad range of matters including:
Divorce and financial settlements Children arrangements Cohabitation and separation matters Nuptial agreements and related advice
The firm takes a settlement-focused approach, encouraging early resolution wherever possible while providing strong representation when litigation becomes necessary. New clients are introduced through paid fixed-fee consultations, allowing solicitors to provide thorough initial advice without the pressure of unpaid exploratory calls. From a structure perspective, the successful candidate will report directly to the firm’s Managing Director, who oversees operations, procedures, compliance and client care across the practice. Day-to-day legal support and mentoring is provided by an experienced senior family lawyer, ensuring you always have access to guidance on complex matters when needed. While the role is fully remote, candidates should be located within approximately one hour of Chelmsford, as occasional court attendance in the local area may be required and periodic in-person collaboration or equipment logistics are easier within this distance. A Different Way of Working This firm has been intentionally designed to move away from many of the pressures associated with traditional private practice. Genuine Flexibility
