24-hour contract - You must be available to work day and night shifts. Day shifts:
Monday - Friday
7:00am - 20:00pm,
Saturday- Sunday
8:00am - 20:00pm Waking Night shifts:
Sunday - Thursday
20:00pm - 8:00am,
Friday - Saturday
20:00pm - 9:00am As a Support Worker, you'll be providing top-notch, person-centred care to a young person with profound and multiple learning difficulties, as well as complex health needs. Your role will be to help them lead a safe, fulfilling, and meaningful life, both at home and in their community. The young person you're supporting is non-verbal and relies on eye contact and facial expressions to communicate, so you'll need to be patient and observant.They split their time between their mum's home in Lancaster, where they live with their twin brother, and their dad's home, alternating weeks between the two. You'll be supporting them during school hours, Monday to Friday, and providing one-to-one adult support outside of school to help them engage in activities they enjoy. There will be a two-to-one crossover in the mornings. The young person has a particular fondness for music, often enjoying the radio or music on TV.They respond exceptionally well to calm, consistent, and compassionate support workers, so a gentle and caring approach is essential. Support will include: PEG care, including
nutrition, hydration, and medication administration
Monitoring and recording
vital signs
(blood pressure, temperature, oxygen saturations)
Seizure management , including administration of
buccal medication
Supporting
CPAP use overnight
Providing full
personal care
Supporting access to
activities of their choice
Supporting attendance at
appointments
Full training will be provided where required, but experience with complex needs is desirable. Essential Requirements
