Location: We welcome applications from candidates around the Crawley / Guildford / M23 area
Salary: £40,000 - £42,000 per annum, OTE of £50,000 - £55,000
Contract: Full time, Permanent - 40 Hours per Week

We are seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer to join a well-established engineering organisation specialising in specialist vehicles and equipment used in municipal services, infrastructure maintenance, aviation support, and environmental operations.

This is a customer-facing, hands-on role where you will carry out service, maintenance, and repair work on a diverse range of high-value equipment in the field.

You will play a key part in delivering an excellent service experience to customers while working independently and as part of a wider service team.

As our Field Service Engineer you will be responsible for:

  • Carrying out maintenance, servicing, and repairs on specialist equipment including compact and truck-mounted road sweepers, spreaders, airport support equipment, and mowing machinery.
  • Delivering a high-quality, professional service to customers, maintaining strong working relationships.
  • Completing warranty repairs and ensure all associated paperwork is accurate and submitted on time.
  • Accurately completing job sheets, additional work authorisations, parts requests, and warranty documentation.
  • Coordinating daily activities with the Service Desk, reporting movements to maximise efficiency.
  • Ordering parts promptly and accurately via the Service Desk.
  • Carrying out courtesy visits to customers when required.
  • Participating in an out-of-hours call-out rota.
  • Promoting products, parts, and services to both existing and potential customers.

We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate a background in Field Service Engineering or a related discipline such as:

  • Heavy Plant Engineering
  • LGV or Automotive Engineering
  • Agricultural or Materials Handling Equipment

Strong practical and theoretical knowledge of:

  • Internal combustion engines
  • Hydraulic systems
  • Auto-electrical systems

You should also have:

  • Experience repairing and maintaining high-value capital equipment.
  • Ability to work independently, manage workload, and meet deadlines.
  • A customer-focused mindset with excellent communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel extensively in the UK and occasionally overseas.
  • Clean UK driving licence (HGV licence advantageous).
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
