Job Description
We have an exciting and business‑critical opportunity for an experienced Finance Business Partner to join our Business Planning and Performance division, reporting to the Finance Director Corporate Costs.
This role supports the planning and performance of our c.£200m indirect cost base. You will be integral to providing clear and robust cost reporting and return‑on‑investment metrics, generating executive‑level insights by applying a financial lens to business decisions, and assessing cost opportunities and risks in close partnership with senior management. The role focuses particularly on staff costs, supporting the HR team with FTE reporting and employee productivity metrics.
Responsibilities
Partner with the business and finance to design, develop and report on indirect cost and ROI metrics.
Support HR and senior management to report on FTE and employee productivity metrics.
Maintain review and reporting mechanisms for indirect costs to ensure cost control and identify risks and opportunities.
Ensure the business clearly understands budget headcount and recruitment is aligned with plan.
Deliver the annual planning cycle (budget, 3‑YP, forecasts) with high‑quality accurate cost and FTE forecasting.
Support business cases for indirect‑cost projects, tracking spend and reporting on ROI, particularly HR projects and FTE investments.
Provide insight and analysis to support the business in understanding cost drivers and performance against budget.
Build scenario models to evaluate the impact of headcount changes, cost of living and career pathway adjustments.
Work with the Financial Control team to ensure correct accounting of indirect costs, including capitalisation of IT staff costs, bonus and holiday provisioning and payroll taxation changes.
Work with Operations to ensure quality and accuracy of payroll and FTE data.
Lead design and development of automated cost and FTE reporting, including PowerBI dashboards and integration with ÈHR systems.
Identify potential cost rationalisation opportunities.
Support tender processes to ensure financial impacts are fully understood and evaluated.
Seek opportunities to automate processes and drive process improvements.
Act as the principal point of contact for the HR leadership team on finance queries, building strong networks across the business and geographies.
Provide insight, analysis and reporting on other indirect cost areas as required by the Finance Director.
Qualifications
Professional qualification (ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent).
Significant post‑qualified experience in financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting or business partnering.
Experience with SAP and Planning Analytics (TM1); experience of bespoke HR systems and PowerBI is a benefit.
Comfortable manipulating large data sets and visualising complex financial information to non‑finance stakeholders.
Knowledge of payroll and employment law developments that may affect staff cost.
Strong data literacy and stewardship techniques.
Strong MS skillset, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
Attention to detail.
Financial modelling skills.
Excellent communication/presentation skills and the ability to maintain strong working relationships.
High numerical and analytical capability with a keen eye for detail.
Experience working in a fast‑paced, high‑growth, technology‑focused organisation.
Ability to manage workload in a challenging environment; prioritise and balance multiple requests.
Interest in driving finance planning solutions and passion for accurate, high‑quality data.
Commitment to continuous improvement and ability to drive improvements based on data analysis.
Ability to handle and communicate information sensitively and professionally.
Strong influencing and stakeholder‑management skills.
Foot‑self‑starter and problem‑solver, capable of working with minimal supervision.
Location
We believe that great things happen when people connect face‑to‑face. This role requires a minimum of three days per week in‑person at our office in Milton Park, Oxfordshire. Candidates must live within a commutable distance of the office.
